Brainwave is local-first. Instead of sending your prompts and files to a remote service, Brainwave brings the AI to your premises: one computer on your own network that everyone in your team can use. The simplest way to protect sensitive data is not to move it, and that principle shapes how the product works.

AI models run on the Brainwave hardware itself. Chat, Work, the CLI, the local database, automation, image and video generation, transcription and translation all process data on the device. Your prompts, files and outputs are not sent to Brainwave, and the device does not need a cloud account to work.

Brainwave serves the devices on your local network. Computers, phones and tablets reach it through the companion apps for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android or through the CLI. Your administrator decides who can connect and what they can use.

Because Brainwave lives on your network, your network security matters too. We recommend a secured Wi-Fi network, a separate guest network for visitors, and keeping your router up to date.

Brainwave is built for teams, with individual user accounts managed through the Admin Dashboard on the device. Administrators can:

Data created and stored on Brainwave stays on the device unless you choose otherwise.

- External connections are opt-in. Data leaves the device only if you or your administrator choose to connect an external service, such as a third-party tool or storage location.
- You control backups. You decide whether, where and how often data is backed up.
- You control deletion. Users and administrators can delete content on the device, and because we do not hold copies of it, deletion is in your hands.

Our website is hosted on Cloudflare and served over HTTPS, so information you submit through our forms is encrypted in transit. The website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and only asks for the information needed to respond to you.
